Freedom Productions has long been associated with the world of live theatre with a special emphasis on musical plays. Company founder Scott Freiheit began writing musicals as a teenager in the early 1970's some of which were filmed as short subjects. His first full-length musical, Cervantes, began life as a student film but was never completed.
In 1978, the year he graduated from Monrovia High School he staged his first major musical in a live venue. That show, Welcome Home Mr. Carlton, would go on to have numerous productions over the years including a presentation at The Hollywood Actors Theatre in 1980 and a special cable television version, shot in front of a live studio audience in 1986.
Many more shows were to follow such as Equity, Crusade, Cleopatra and the Slave Girls of Venus (formerly known as Julius Caesar Conquers the Martians), The Ancient Staff of Wisdom, The Scarlet Letter, Dark Destiny and George Washington Never Slept Here.
Other shows such as Midnight and Star Voyage '69 are still in development.
